Artificial Turf in Georgetown, TX for Sun City and Low-Maintenance Living

Georgetown is home to the largest active-adult community in Texas, where low-maintenance living is not a nice-to-have, it is the whole point.

What Georgetown Properties Need From Turf

Sun City Texas, in Georgetown, is a 55-plus active-adult community with more than 7,500 homes built and roughly 10,000 planned at full build-out, on about 5,300 acres, making it the largest active-adult community in Texas. It has its own three golf courses, multiple fitness centers, and miles of walking trails. Residents here are choosing low-maintenance living by design, and a yard that does not need mowing or irrigation fits that choice directly. We are not claiming hello TURF has installed anything inside Sun City itself, only that the community's own character makes turf a natural fit for its residents.

As of September 2026, Georgetown is currently under Drought Stage 1, the mildest tier, limiting irrigation systems to two assigned days per week based on street address, with watering only permitted from midnight to 9am or 7pm to midnight. Georgetown draws from Lake Georgetown, a reservoir it shares with Round Rock and Leander through the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority, so its water situation is tied to the same regional supply as those two cities. Stage 1 is the current condition and can change with regional lake levels.

There is also the HOA question, and it is especially relevant here given Sun City's own HOA. Texas House Bill 2269, effective September 1, 2025, amended Property Code Section 202.007 so a homeowners association cannot require a property owner to plant, install, or maintain living grass or turf. A companion law, House Bill 517, added Section 202.008, requiring an association to suspend any grass-maintenance rule while a property is under a watering restriction. These laws mean that whether you live in Sun City or anywhere else in Georgetown, an HOA cannot block you from switching to synthetic turf.

Residential Turf for Georgetown's Active-Adult and Growth-Corridor Neighborhoods

Residential turf is the primary fit for Georgetown, and the low-maintenance angle is the reason. For active-adult residents who chose a community built around convenience and recreation, a lawn that stays green without weekly mowing, fertilizing, or irrigation is not a compromise, it is an upgrade. Synthetic turf eliminates the equipment, the schedule, and the water bill that natural grass demands, and it does so within Georgetown's current Stage 1 watering limits without any issue. The same logic applies to family neighborhoods on the growth corridor where lawn upkeep is a weekly chore that turf removes entirely.
